What is the difference between the GTX and RTX?

The inaugural entry in the Nvidia GTX series arrived in 2008, known as the GTX 260. A decade later, in 2018, Nvidia unveiled the RTX cards, revolutionizing gaming with real-time ray tracing and offering an immersive experience.

Distinguishing the Nvidia GTX and Nvidia RTX cards are six pivotal factors:

Architecture

The Nvidia GTX series is based on the Pascal and Turing architecture. On the other hand, the Nvidia RTX series employs the more advanced Turing and Ampere architecture. The RTX 3000 and RTX 4000 series utilize Ampere architecture.

Ray Tracing

Hardware-accelerated ray tracing stands as one of the most notable disparities. RTX cards incorporate dedicated RT (Ray Tracing) cores, enabling real-time ray tracing in games and applications. This technology brings forth heightened realism in lighting, shadows, and reflections.

Performance

Due to their more recent release and enhanced hardware, Nvidia's RTX GPUs outperform their older GTX counterparts. The performance gap widens further as we advance three generations beyond the last GTX release.

Power Efficiency

Despite their increased power requirements, Nvidia's RTX GPUs offer significantly better performance per watt compared to the older GTX GPUs.

AI

Nvidia RTX GPUs feature Nvidia Tensor Cores, specifically designed to facilitate AI and deep learning capabilities. The inclusion of Tensor Cores sets them apart from GTX GPUs, as the latter lacks such processing capabilities for AI and deep learning.

Price

As expected, NVIDIA Geforce RTX GPUs command higher price points than GTX GPUs.

Why is an NVIDIA Graphics Card good for gaming?

Having a faster graphics card leads to increased frame rates, allowing you to perceive visual elements earlier and improving your chances of hitting targets. Consequently, players equipped with superior graphics cards tend to achieve higher Kill/Death (KD) ratios. NVIDIA GeForce GPUs are renowned for delivering the highest FPS in competitive games, NVIDIA are without doubt the best range of graphics cards for PC gaming as they deliver maximum performance.

How well do NVIDIA Graphics Cards manage latency?

In order to emerge victorious in First-Person Shooters and Battle Royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege, top-notch performance is imperative. You can attain system latency below 15 milliseconds by harnessing the power of NVIDIA Reflex in conjunction with GeForce GPUs.
